It’s official, Microsoft has announced a full retail release launch date of October 18, 2013 for its Windows 8.1 operating system.  Windows 8.1 promises to correct some annoyances many users reported with it’s initial release, bringing the start button back and providing an option to boot straight to the desktop, to name a couple of the big ones.

In addition, lots of new features and apps are being added to improve functionality and usability.  The following PCWorld article provides links to many informative reviews and updates about the forthcoming release.
